Welcome
This site, hopefully, should enable you if you are interested in any shooting sport. Whilst we wish to help promote our club with its long history, in these hoplophobic days, we feel it is in the interest of all concerned to be active to some degree in as many areas as possible. Currently we have a 10 metre air pistol, 25 yard prone indoor and 3 position indoor and standing Light-weight Sporting Rifle. Outdoor we have a 50m and 100yd range, which is also rented to other clubs and associations for competitions. We are also pleased to be assisting the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (B.A.S.C) with their regional shooting education classes and proficiency tests. When I first started to shoot there was snobbery and a reluctance to accept young or inexperienced shooters, which unfortunately is still common today. Young shooters, no matter which genre of the sport they decide to participate in are the future of our sport and should be assisted in any way possible. To this end we do all we can to help new shooters with advice or supply contacts to those who have the required knowledge. In the links area you will find a political link (more as they become known). Gun issues affect all of us in the shooting sports and our sport is ultimately governed not by the B.A.S.C, Countryside Alliance (C.A.), N.R.A, C.P.S.A or N.S.R.A. but by the politicians of the day. However, none of these and other organisations can do anything without your active support. If you own a gun make your voice heard by contacting your M.P. and more importantly, supporting one or more of the associations fighting for your chosen sport. For details of a club near you contact the National Small-bore Rifle Association, e-mail: info@nsra.co.uk

Lead shot hits the media.
It's about shooting. When you do not have the required evidence to support an argument and the evidence that is available goes against what you want to acheive what do you do? Well you could try what the W.W.T. is attempting, either suggest a problem that then creates a possible panic or handle the situation the right way. In a nine page document in another attempt to to get lead banned in all shooting, it states: 'HRH & others at Buckingham Palace may not be amenable to this – but if handled in the right way (new information, emerging risks, how could anyone have known etc) Prince Charles could be an advocate – unpredictable.'
As one of the first to highlight this mis-representation the Daily Mail has written an interesting article and identifies far more pressing issues that should be addressed.

New ranges at Woolwich.
It's about shooting. It might be just me but if this is what they had in mind from the off, it's no wonder they want to pull the ranges for the Olympic shooting down after the competition is over. Pictures here. Still the insides look good but the cost erecting and then pulling it all down afterwards will do no favours for shooting in the long term.

Fresh attack from WWT
It's about shooting.A new mass media attack on shooting in all its forms is proposed by the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust. Details from a leaked document can be found at the (click here) Shooting Times. It is down to all shooters regardless of the discipline they take part in. So make sure you are informed and then let the indolent media and those celebrites riding on their coat-tails know that the facts do not support their biased agenda.
Link now up and running. New software or website construction info would be much appreciated.

What Legacy?
It's about shooting. It's been quite quiet for a while but something appears to be stirring. Although it is far to late to do anything about it now, perhaps something can be arrange so that afterwards shooting and the horse community get something from the games. I do naot have any doubts that our shooters and riders will do a stirling job and once again take the lions share of the medal haul. But it would be nice if we could all get some of the crumbs left once the show is over.
Blog article, read here.

Subscription time is near!
Fittleworth R.C. NewsIn an effort to reduce the paperwork please remeber to send back with your subscription renewal a copy of your attendance log/register for the use of the outdoor range. The police have been very "enthusiastic" recently in using the information regarding certificate renewals.
Those of you who are indoor members and have not yet attended time is running short. Last year I had 15 non-attendance members details to submit.
In brief, if you have an F.A.C. you will beed to show usage of your target rifles at least three times. If you are a member of this or any other club you will need to show attendance at least once in the twelve month period regardless of wether you have a firearm or not. This single attendance applies to all clubs you are a member of

NEW, Hornady .17 Hornet
It's about shooting.Sting 'em with the 17 Hornet

Based on the 22 Hornet cartridge case, the 17 Hornet propels the 20 gr V-MAX at 3,650 fps. Fueled with Superformance propellent, the 17 Hornet Superformance Varmint is economically priced, and delivers the trajectory of a traditional 55 gr 223 load, but is a pleasure to shoot with the felt recoil of a 22 WMR. The 17 Hornet – an economical, fun .17 caliber centerfire cartridge that puts the STING on varmints out to 300 yards!

  • 3,650 fps muzzle velocity with a 20 gr. V-MAX bullet
  • Same C.O.L. as the 22 Hornet – uses the existing action
  • Trajectory comparable to a traditional 55 gr 223 Rem, but the felt recoil of a 22 WMR
  • Less fouling, barrel wear, powder and pressure compared to the 17 Rem
  • Lower cost and comparable quality to the 17 Fireball and 223 Rem

CCI® Introduces New .22
It's about shooting.
CCI® Introduces New Tactical .22 Long Rifle Load for AR-Style Rifles
LEWISTON, Idaho. - May 31, 2011 - CCI® now offers a load specifically for AR-style rifles-new .22 Long Rifle AR-Tactical. Shooters can find these accurate and affordable bullets.

Consistent Performance
These new rounds are built to CCI's high standards. AR-Tactical bullets offer excellent accuracy--including 1.5 inches at 100 yards for 10-shot groups in factory testing. Testing also was conducted specifically for common law enforcement and military Smith & Wesson M&P 15/22 firearms. This testing confirmed the performance that tactical users require.

Optimized Design
A CCI case, primer and bullet lube combine with clean-burning powder to provide tactical-grade performance. The 40-grain rounds are a target bullet with a copper-plated round nose (CPRN) for smooth feeding. Tactical shooters can blast through an entire magazine without worrying of a glitch in feeding or on-target performance. A speed of 1200 fps allows for excellent accuracy with low recoil.

"These new .22 Long Rifle AR-Tactical rounds are a great value to all shooters," said Brand Director Rick Stoeckel. "Our rigorous testing came back with impressive results, showing that these guns like a heavier bullet with a relatively low muzzle velocity. Now we are ready to meet the rising demand of AR-style shooters."

AR-Tactical is available in 375-count loose packed, re-closeable boxes. To learn more about the new rounds and the entire CCI lineup, visit www.CCI-ammunition.com
